James Boswell

  • Tate Britain is opening this year’s celebrations of Boswell’s birth (June 9 1906) with a display, left of the main hall, which will feature paintings, drawings and lithographs. Copies of the 1943 Iraq Sketchbook, and Left Review and Lilliput, of which Boswell was illustrator and Art Editor 1947-1950 will also be on view. The display will remain in situ for some weeks.

12 and 13 September 2006

  • Opening of a one man retrospective show at Square One Gallery, 592 King’s Road, SW6. This will feature paintings, drawings and lithographs.

September/October 2006

  • In the latter half of September the British Museum is displaying six to eight Boswell drawings from their collection in the newly opened Prints and Drawings Gallery.

November 2006

  • Launch of a book of Boswell drawings, "James Boswell, Unofficial War Artist" published by The Muswell Press.  These war drawings, rarely seen, are taken from collections at the British Museum, Tate Britain and The Imperial War Museum.
